Frühling
Der Frühling oder das Frühjahr ist eine Jahreszeit.
Spring, or springtime, is a season.
Nach dem Winter, der kalten Jahreszeit, wird es im Frühling wieder wärmer.
After winter, the cold season, it becomes warmer again in spring.
Auf den Frühling folgt dann der Sommer.
Then summer follows spring.
Im Frühling wachsen und blühen die Pflanzen wieder.
In spring, plants grow and bloom again.
Die Landschaft wird wieder grün.

Viele Tiere bekommen ihre Jungen.
Many animals have their young.
Die Bauern mähen die Wiesen und machen Heu.
The farmers mow the meadows and make hay.
Für die Wetterforscher beginnt der Frühling auf der Nordhalbkugel am 1. März und dauert bis zum 31. Mai.
For weather researchers, spring begins in the Northern Hemisphere on March 1 and lasts until May 31.
Frühlingsmonate sind also der März, der April und der Mai.
So the spring months are March, April, and May.
Für die Astronomen jedoch beginnt der Frühling zur Tag-und-Nacht-Gleiche, wenn die Tage und Nächte also gleich lang sind.
For astronomers, however, spring begins at the equinox, when days and nights are equally long.
Das ist in den nächsten Jahren immer der 20. März, es kann aber auch der 19. oder 21. März sein.
In the next few years, that is always March 20, but it can also be March 19 or 21.
In diese Zeit fällt das Osterfest.
Easter falls during this time.
Der Frühling endet bei der Sommersonnenwende, wenn die Tage am längsten sind.
Spring ends at the summer solstice, when the days are longest.
Das ist am 20. oder 21. Juni, und damit beginnt dann der Sommer.
That is on June 20 or 21, and thus summer begins.

Grammar in this text
Temporal subordinate clauses with 'wenn'
wenn die Tage und Nächte also gleich lang sind
The conjunction 'wenn' (when) introduces a subordinate clause. The finite verb is placed at the end of the clause, as seen here with 'sind'.
Contraction of preposition and definite article
im Frühling
Prepositions like 'in', 'an', 'zu' can contract with the definite article: 'im' = in + dem, 'am' = an + dem, 'zum' = zu + dem, 'zur' = zu + der. This is common in dates and seasons.
Inversion after fronted adverbial phrase
Auf den Frühling folgt dann der Sommer.
When a prepositional phrase is moved to the first position, the finite verb remains in second position and the subject moves after the verb. Here, 'Auf den Frühling' is fronted, so the verb 'folgt' precedes the subject 'der Sommer'.
