Ein Anruf
Abends telefoniere ich gern.
I like making calls in the evening.
Heute kommt ein Anruf von meiner Freundin.
Today there is a call from my girlfriend.
Sie wohnt jetzt in Österreich und erzählt von ihrer neuen Arbeit.
She lives in Austria now and talks about her new job.
Wir sprechen sehr lange.
We talk for a long time.
Dann möchte ich meine Eltern anrufen, aber es ist besetzt.
Then I want to call my parents, but the line is busy.
Später telefoniere ich noch einmal.
Later I call once more.
Meine Eltern sind sehr glücklich über den Anruf.
My parents are very happy about the call.
Wir telefonieren jede Woche einmal.
We phone each other once a week.
Das ist nicht viel, aber es ist gut für uns alle.
That is not much, but it does us all good.
Grammar in this text
von + dative
Heute kommt ein Anruf von meiner Freundin.
Von always takes the dative: von meiner Freundin, von meinem Freund.
Separable verb: anrufen
Dann möchte ich meine Eltern anrufen, aber es ist besetzt.
After möchte the verb stays whole at the end: anrufen. It only splits when it is the main verb: ich rufe an.
glücklich über + accusative
Meine Eltern sind sehr glücklich über den Anruf.
Über with a feeling takes the accusative: über den Anruf.
