She shows it to me and I think it is very nice.

Wir schreiben eine E-Mail an Mama in Berlin.

We write an e-mail to Mum in Berlin.

Mama sieht das Foto und sagt sofort: Das ist toll!

Mum sees the photo and says straight away: that is great!

Sie kommt am Freitag für eine Woche.

She is coming on Friday for a week.

Wir warten schon lange auf sie.

We have been waiting for her for a long time.

Meine Tochter hat eine Idee: Wir machen noch mehr Fotos.

My daughter has an idea: we will take some more photos.

Grammar in this text

Dative person, accusative thing

Sie zeigt es mir

zeigen takes a person in the dative and a thing in the accusative. When the thing is a pronoun it goes first: Sie zeigt es mir, not Sie zeigt mir es.

warten auf + accusative

Wir warten schon lange auf sie.

warten is used with auf and the accusative: auf sie warten, auf den Freitag warten. The auf belongs to the verb and is not a place.

Possessives take the ending of the article they replace

Meine Tochter macht ein Foto von unserem Haus.

mein and unser carry the ending the article would have: meine Tochter is feminine, unserem Haus is neuter after von, which takes the dative.
