Grammar in this text

Time first, verb second, subject third

Heute war es das Geld.

heute opens the sentence, so the verb war moves into position two and the subject es follows it.

werden for something changing

Ich hoffe sehr, es wird einfacher.

werden means to become: es wird einfacher — it is getting easier. sein says what something is, werden says what it turns into.

Comparatives in -er, and the one that is irregular

aber jetzt weiß ich mehr

Most adjectives add -er to compare: einfach becomes einfacher. A few are irregular, and viel is one of them: viel becomes mehr.
