FormAussagesatz (Position 1) … , oder?
Meaning and usage
You can turn a normal statement into a yes/no question by keeping the word order and adding oder? at the end. The meaning is like English isn't it?, right? or don't you?. The speaker expects agreement, so the answer is usually ja.
oder? is the most common tag in everyday speech. nicht? and nicht wahr? do the same job. The statement keeps its normal word order. English speakers sometimes translate isn't it? word for word, as in Das ist teuer, ist es nicht?, but German uses one short tag for every statement.
