Meaning and usage

The exceptions are few but common: der Moment, der Irrtum, der Reichtum, and words where -um is not an ending at all, like der Baum and der Raum. Latin -um nouns usually form the plural with -en: die Museen, die Zentren.

    Show answer

    Correct answer: das

Nouns in -um are neuter, and as the object of besuchen it is accusative, which for neuter is das: das neue Museum.

    • die would make Museum feminine; -um nouns are neuter.
    • den would be masculine accusative, and then the adjective would be neuen.
    • dem is dative; besuchen takes the accusative.
