FormSubjekt + lässt sich + (…) Infinitiv (Ende)
Meaning and usage
sich lassen + infinitive means can be done: Das Problem lässt sich mit Geld nicht lösen (can't be solved with money), Ihre Frage lässt sich nur schwer beantworten, Der Sitz lässt sich nach hinten lehnen. It replaces a passive with können (Das Problem kann nicht gelöst werden) and is common in instructions and descriptions.
The thing that can be done is the subject, sich stays in the third person, and the infinitive goes to the end. Do not confuse it with having something done for yourself: Er lässt sich die Haare schneiden. A common mistake is doubling the modal idea: Das lässt sich nicht machen können.
