Form… Verb + wohl … (Vermutung)
Meaning and usage
wohl turns a statement into a guess: Er ist wohl krank (he's probably ill), Du bist wohl neu hier (you must be new here), Nächstes Mal haben wir wohl nicht so viel Glück. It often goes with werden: Es wird wohl regnen.
In questions it can sound ironic or reproachful: Von Anklopfen haben Sie wohl noch nie etwas gehört? Do not confuse the particle with sich wohl fühlen (feel well, feel at ease) or with Zum Wohl! (cheers).
