B1 · Future tense

Er wird es vergessen haben.

Futur II: will have done, or probably did

Formwerden (Position 2) … Partizip II + haben/sein (Ende)

Meaning and usage

Futur II is werden + participle + haben or sein at the end. It says that something will be finished by a point in the future: Bis morgen werde ich es fertig gemacht haben, In drei Monaten werde ich das ganze Geld ausgegeben haben, Morgen um diese Zeit werden wir schon angekommen sein.

It is rare in everyday German, and its commonest use is a guess about the past: Er wird es vergessen haben (he has probably forgotten it). The choice between haben and sein is the same as in the perfect. Speech often uses the perfect instead: Bis morgen habe ich es gemacht.
