Formwerden (Position 2) … Infinitiv (Ende)
Meaning and usage
The future tense is werden in position 2 and the infinitive at the end: Ich werde dir helfen, Mein Vater wird heute kochen, Ihr werdet es sehen. It is built like a modal sentence: werden is conjugated and the main verb stays in the infinitive.
German uses it less than English uses will. For plans with a time word the present is normal: Morgen fahre ich nach Berlin. werden is for predictions (Das wird nicht funktionieren) and for promises and firm intentions (Ich werde dich nie vergessen). A common mistake is werden twice: Ich werde morgen kommen werden.
